Uninstall httpd Package

Description

The apache2 package can be removed with the following command:


$ apt-get remove apache2

Rationale

If there is no need to make the web server software available, removing it provides a safeguard against its activation.

Remediation

Shell script

The following script can be run on the host to remediate the issue.

#!/bin/bash

# CAUTION: This remediation script will remove apache2
#	   from the system, and may remove any packages
#	   that depend on apache2. Execute this
#	   remediation AFTER testing on a non-production
#	   system!

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get remove -y "apache2"

Ansible playbook

The following playbook can be run with Ansible to remediate the issue.
